Fashion in Singapore

Singapore is a dreamland for fashion enthusiasts! However, fashion in Singapore is not just about keeping up with the current trends. It is more about dressing stylishly with a unique and individual flair. It is easy to see that fashion is very popular among locals and tourists in Singapore simply by visiting the numerous shopping malls full of the top intercontinental brand stores.

Fashion Events in Singapore

Singapore is the heart of fashion in the Asian Pacific area and the home to famous designers, such as Ashley Isham, Jonathan Seow, Jo Sho, Keith Png, Wykidd Song, Daniel Yam and Celia Loe. The city is also the host to some of the hottest landmark fashion events. The most recognized events are the annual Singapore Fashion Week and the Singapore Fashion Festival. These two occasions showcase the finest designs by the most respected fashion designers throughout the world. Representatives from top fashion houses and highly regarded people and designers from all over the world attend these events.

Shopping in Singapore

While shopping is very costly, it doesn’t seem to keep Singaporeans away from their favorite brand stores. Orchard Road is the hub of the shopping districts in the entire country and is full of brand name stores that carry the latest up-to-the-minute styles, including Curiocity Gallery, Tekka Centre, Mothercare and House of Japan. China Town, Little India and Kampong Glam are prevalent places to shop for indigenous clothing and fabrics.

Singapore Fashion for Men

Men equally enjoy wearing stylish clothes in Singapore. Many men prefer mixing up styles to develop an individual look that can pass for both the work place and for a leisure evening out on the town. While it is not common for men in Singapore to be seen in basic T-shirts and timeworn jeans, it is common to see men in new stylish jeans with a dress shirt. Much like the Singaporean women, the men also tend to dress in current styles with their own personal accents added.

Men’s Fashion Week

Singapore now has a yearly Men’s Fashion Week that was founded in 2011by Singaporean humanitarian and financier, Frank Cintamani. It is the first of its kind in Asia and the third in the world. The idea was to present a platform for menswear designers from throughout the world to show off their newest creations. Just a few of the designers that have boasted their collections on the runways at the Men’s Fashion Week event are Nick Hart, Hisashi Fukatami and Richard Chai.
